What is the difference between Australian and Chinese mains plugs?

It is possible to interchange the connectors, but it isn’t recommended. The Chinese cables are stamped with the official Chinese approvals logo, as shown below:

Whilst the Australian cables have their own approvals, as shown below:

SAA Logo

These approval stamps are one of the only ways of telling the difference between connectors. You may experience problems selling one in the other country – particularly if you are trying to sell a finished product that itself requires approvals from the local regulators.

Physically, the pins are at the same angle and proportion, though there’s a 1mm difference in their length.
